Reports To: Clinic Nurse Manager

JOB SUMMARY

Part time/casual RN to provide reproductive and general medical health services to adolescent and young adult clients according to clinic policies and procedures. Work Tuesdays 11:45-5, and 1-2 Saturday’s a month 9:45-2:30. Available to pick up sick and vacation shifts to assist in covering open nursing shifts at our Hopkins clinic and satellite sites.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Will work as part of an interdisciplinary clinic team to provide appropriate care to adolescent clients seeking reproductive and primary care services.
  • Works as the clinic and or walk-in nurse as scheduled, will be required to work alone in the clinic at times, and will need to be able to drive to satellite clinic sites.
  • Room clients, take vital signs, review medical history and determine need for visit
  • Dispense medications, vaccines, educate clients on the proper use of medication, evaluate side effects
  • Field patient questions, provide phone triage, review lab results and patient follow up as needed.
  • Provide pregnancy counseling, crisis counseling

OTHER FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Schedule appointments as needed
  • Wears clinic uniform as defined in the uniform policy, and required name tag
  • Assist with administration tasks filing, photocopying, replenishment of supplies, Dispensary labeling and stock, etc.
  • Will represent myHealth in a friendly, outgoing, courteous, professional manner at all times
  • Attends regular nursing, clinic meetings and all staff meetings the second Thursday of every other month
  • Conducts self in accordance with myHealth’s employee manual
  • Maintains strictest confidentiality; adheres to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations
  • Must be to work on time and ready to work when the clinic opens
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor or Clinic Director
  • Report workplace hazards to your supervisor and/or safety officer

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • Valid MN RN nursing license
  • Minimum of 2 years nursing experience
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from a variety of economic, social and culturally diverse backgrounds
  • Technical proficiency in Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Committed to the mission of myHealth

Preferred

  • Experience in reproductive health, OB/GYN desired. Comfortable discussing sexual and reproductive issues with clients
  • Previous EHR experience
  • Experience with vaccines, general medical, and asthma care.
  • Experience in non-profit health care, reproductive health or adolescent issues

REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS

  • Current MN RN License.
  • Current CPR Certification
  • Current MN Driver’s License

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

Environmental/Working Conditions: Work is performed in a clinic environment. Work may be stressful at times due to a busy office. Interaction with others is constant and interruptive.

Physical Demands: Work may require hand dexterity for telephone and office machine operation. May require occasional lifting of supplies up to 50 lbs.

Patient Services Representative & Insurance Navigator

myHealth for Teens & Young Adults is a 501 (c3) non-profit organization committed to providing clinical services for adolescents and young adults. myHealth‘s mission is to improve the health of our community by providing health services and information that support teens and young adults in making responsible and well-informed decisions. myHealth’s vision is that one day all young people will be educated and empowered to make responsible decisions regarding their health and relationships.

WHAT WE DO

myHealth clinic-based programs offer youth and young adults, ages 12-26, comprehensive, preventative and youth-focused medical services, mental health services, community outreach and education, and nurse home visiting for pregnant and parenting teens. Our clinic is in downtown Hopkins and our services are offered without judgment in a caring and safe environment.

JOB SUMMARY

This is a hybrid position with two components: Patient Services Representative and Insurance Navigator.

The Patient Service Representative is often the first person a client or community member meets when they walk in the clinic, and we are looking for someone who can consistently provide a positive and professional customer service experience for all.

This position will cover Monday 11:45am to 6pm or 1:45 to 8pm, Tuesday from 11:45am to 5pm, Thursday from 11:45am to 4 or 5pm, and occasionally an additional shift. Responsibilities include checking in clients for appointments, accurately scheduling clients for clinic appointments, obtaining and verifying necessary demographic and insurance information, explaining the Minnesota Family Planning Program (MFPP) and assisting in enrolling clients in the program.

An Insurance Navigator helps members of our community of all ages apply for and enroll in insurance through MNsure. This role will involve becoming certified through MNsure, meeting with members of the community (in-person and virtually), submitting health insurance applications, helping clients enroll, performing case work, and related duties.

The hours for the insurance navigator part of this position are flexible. There will be 2-4 onsite navigator hours per week initially and may grow with demand.

Applicants must have a strong work ethic and be able to work independently. This position will range from 16 hours to 19 hours per week upon hire. After all training is completed, the job will average 20 to 22 hours a week. Pay range is $18-20 an hour based on experience. Position/training starts as soon as possible. This position is not benefits-eligible upon hire, but will become benefits-eligible once a full load of insurance navigation brings the position to over 20 hours.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • High school graduate or GED
  • At least one year of customer service experience
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) OR experiencing working in a medical setting
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from a variety of economic, social and culturally diverse backgrounds and maintain strict patient confidentiality
  • Technical proficiency in basic computer applications such as Microsoft Office and Outlook, Excel and Word
  • Organized and detail-oriented

Preferred

  • Benefits enrollment experience
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a busy clinic
  • Ability to work as part of a healthcare team of Nurse Practitioners, Nurses, Medical Assistants, Educators and Mental Health Counselors
  • Ability to deliver quality care to adolescents and young adults according to clinic policies and procedures
